18th Venice Architecture Biennale

21.10.2023

A visit to the Venice Architecture Biennale on a sunny weekend. Two days are needed to fully enjoy the exhibition, which takes place between the Arsenal and the gardens of the Doges’ city.
Titled “The Laboratory of the Future”, many of the exhibits take ecology and sustainable development as their theme. Among these projects, the Belgian pavilion is the one that most captivated me. By developing a material based on mycelium, the project focuses on the possibilities offered by this new material, which is no longer inert, but living. Between self-regenerating brick and osmosis bond. Fascinating.
The Arsenal exhibition offers some interesting reflections, notably on heritage and the solutions it can bring to our future. An often didactic exhibition in which multimedia plays a key role.
